GM recalls more Chevrolet Trax SUVs over welding issue

California owners of General Motors vehicles might be interested to learn that the automaker has issued a recall for 107,000 more Chevrolet Trax SUVs due to a potential crash risk. GM dealers will inspect and repair affected vehicles for free.

In April, GM announced the recall of 2017, 2018 and 2019 Trax models over a welding flaw in the vehicle's suspension system. Under certain conditions, the weld could break and cause drivers to lose control over the vehicle's steering, which might cause an accident. The new recall expands the affected vehicles to include 2015 and 2016 Trax models.

According to media reports, there have been multiple welding-related recalls over the last 12 months. In June, Ford announced the recall of 1.2 million Ford Explorer SUVS made between 2011 and 2017 for a possible welding problem. Late last year, Fiat Chrysler announced the recall of 18,000 Jeep Wranglers manufactured in 2018 and 2019 for another welding problem. The latest welding recall is the second recall GM has announced this September. Earlier in the month, the Detroit-based automaker announced the recall of almost 3.5 million pickup trucks for potential brake problems.

Individuals who have been injured by a defective vehicle or auto part might benefit from receiving Costa Mesa defective product and machinery legal representation. An attorney may carefully review a victim's case and determine if a dangerous product was to blame for his or her injuries. If so, the attorney might recommend filing a product liability lawsuit against the responsible automaker, auto part manufacturer and others. A successful claim may lead to a settlement that covers the victim's medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, lost wages and other related damages.
