Distracted driving is more common than people think

Many California drivers have been guilty of driving while distracted. When people think about someone driving while distracted, one of the first things that they think about is driving while using their cellphone or some other form of technology. It's true that the vast majority of driving accidents that happen because of distracted driving are related to the use of mobile phones or technology, but there are a number of non-technological distractions that drivers face daily.

What lies ahead following burn injuries?

You may be enduring some of the most painful procedures you can imagine as you recover in the hospital from your burn injuries. The images of the fire or accident that resulted in your burns replay in your mind, and you may have little else to do but lie there and think about it because the process for healing your skin may seem long and tedious.

Critics say the NHTSA should act to make trucks safer

People in California may be more likely to be in fatal accidents involving large trucks than with other types of vehicles. The accident fatality rate for large trucks is nearly three times more than that of other vehicles. In 2017, more than 4,000 people died in accidents involving large trucks, an increase of 28% since 2009. Most of the fatalities were people in other vehicles, but 17% were people in the trucks and 14% were pedestrians or people on bikes or motorcycles.

GM to recall thousands of pickup trucks and SUVs

California residents who own four-wheel drive full-size SUVs or pickup trucks manufactured by General Motors between 2014 and 2018 may be wise to leave their vehicles in two-wheel drive for the time being. The nation's largest automaker has announced that it is recalling more than 600,000 Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Yukon and GMC Sierra models to remedy a potentially dangerous software glitch. The problem, which can cause unintended and erratic braking, only manifests itself when the vehicles' four-wheel drive systems are activated.
